Sharalyn DraytonDirector & Senior Therapist | At ARISE Counselling Solutions we bring many years of both professional and life experience to our work. Before starting ARISE Counselling Solutions in 2010, Director and Senior Therapist Sharalyn Drayton had been working in this field since 1998. With a background in Management in the corporate sector, Sharalyn moved into the area of mental health, completing a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts. She also holds qualifications in Clinical Pastoral Counselling and Drug and Alcohol Work and has worked in a number of leading Sydney hospitals. Undertaking specialised training in America to support the work she does with partners of sex addicts, Sharalyn is Australia's first APSATS (Association Partners Sex Addiction Trauma Specialists) trained Certified Clinical Partner Specialist as well as an IITAP (International Institute Trauma Addiction Professionals) Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. Today Sharalyn works primarily with clients struggling with intimate partner betrayal caused by sex addiction. As a member of the ACA College of Supervisors, and a registered Supervisor with NZCCA, Sharalyn also offers supervision to counsellors and therapists. Sharalyn is Australia's only APSATS registered supervisor and is therefore able to support therapists working in the field of betrayal trauma and those who have undertaken the APSATS training. Sharalyn also helps clients work with problems such as grief, loss, depression and anxiety and all areas relating to addiction, and provides specialised support to the partners of sex addicts. Sharalyn is also the Co-Founder and Chair of Women's Healing Sanctuary (www.womenshealingsanctuary.com.au), Founder and Therapist at Relational Recovery Centre Asia Pacific (www.relationalrecoverycentre.com), and a founding board member of Sex Addiction Specialists Aotearoa (www.sasa.nz). |

Publications and Programs. | Sharalyn has written and presented on the topic of sex addiction, or what she calls "The Silent Addiction", and the difficulties faced by partners trying to deal with this. Papers she has written on this subject have been peer reviewed and published in Counselling Australia quarterly journal (Vol.15, No.3, Spring 2015), (Vol18 no.3, Spring 2018). Sharalyn is also the author of "Resistance to Resilience: Addiction, Co-dependency and Doing Life Differently" published in Perspectives on Coping and Resilience, Authorspress, 2013. These publications are available to read on this website. Sharalyn also runs training programs for clinicians in Australia and New Zealand on working with sex addicts and their partners, and facilitating Full Therapeutic Disclosure.
